Q: What is LipoMelt laser liposuction?
A: Laser Liposuction is an FDA approved, non-invasive system that uses laser energy to shrink the fat cells in your waist, arms, chin, tush, or thighs. The contents of the shrunken fat cells are then reabsorbed by the body through the lymphatic system; then processed by the liver and used for energy. This is why it is important to abstain from alcohol during your treatment and to take a liver support supplement.

Q: How Long Does the Treatment Take?
A: 45 minutes in total. This includes the treatment and exercise. The initial visit, each 4th visit and the final course treatment visit will take an additional 10-15 minutes to take measurements before and/or after the treatment.

Q: Do you have to exercise post treatment?
A: Yes, it is essential that post treatment the client exercises to speed up the lymphatic system. We have a whole body vibrational exercise machine that the clients will use after their treatment, while still in the office, thus assuring that the exercise requirement has been met.

Q: Does LipoMelt work for everyone?
A: There are two basic reasons for someone to be overweight.
     1.  Too much food, not enough exercise
     2.  Health Issues

The main health reasons that cause people to be overweight include:

     a.  Getting older resulting in lower metabolism.
     b.  Hormonal, adrenal, thyroid or liver issues.

While almost every patient will benefit from the LipoMelt procedure, patients from the first category will often see results after just one session.  Those from the second category will most likely take several sessions before seeing long-lasting results.

Q: Are there any special diets or supplements that I have to take?
A: Yes. We recommend that you take a good liver support supplement. Milk thistle is a wonderful supplement to take while undergoing laser liposuction and we will provide you with one bottle per LipoMelt package purchased.

Q: How are the measurements taken?
A: Three separate measurements are taken on the area treated.

Q: What are the advantages of LED over invasive processes?
A: There are major advantages against invasive processes; including no pain vs. severe pain, instant results vs. up to 16 weeks recovery for liposuction, possible risk of infections with invasive surgery, price advantages, no damage to body including fat cells as opposed to total removal of cells, blood vessels etc, Post-operative numbness etc.

Q: How is the “fat” reduced beyond the information already provided?
A: When energy is required by the body, the brain sends signals to the adipose cells to break down the stored fat, a process called lypolysis. During this process, free fatty acids are released into the bloodstream and circulate throughout the body. Chromophores are part of a molecule which can absorb certain wavelengths of visible light. Specific wavelengths of light cause fat cell membranes to lose their round shape by changing the permeability of the cell. This light creates photobiomodulation within the adipose cells signaling a change inside each adipose cell; creating pores or channels in the cell wall. This alteration of the cell triggers the release of an enzyme (lipase) which can break the triglyceride molecules down into fatty acids and glycerol molecules which are now small enough to pass through the pores of the cell wall releasing stored fat. After a 20 minute treatment, exercise is essential to create the demand for energy which can now be met by the released fatty acids and glycerol from the adipose cells, completing the inch loss process.

Q: Regards to using a body wrap after the LipoLight treatment, can this be instead of working out?
A: A body wrap is a nice way of improving the hydration/texture of the epidermis and also reduce water retention, but offers no benefit for fat reduction that is demonstrated in any peer reviewed medical research! It certainly cannot be used instead of working out. There is no getting away from it; the patient has to perform cardiovascular exercise to burn calories. There is no other way to eliminate fat from the body.

Q: What happens if you steam or sauna following the LipoLight treatments? Can this be instead of working out?
A: See above regarding body wraps. There is some thought that exercise in an infrared sauna chamber can increase calories burnt per hour….but it still involves the exercise bit. Sauna/steam alone will facilitate water loss and will cause some minor increase in metabolism, but again, little confirmed medical evidence in peer reviewed studies to suggest that a suitable session could burn the minimum 300‐400 calories we want to metabolize after Lipo Laser treatment.

Q: How many treatments can the client have, when should they stop having treatments? How much rest time between courses?
A: The standard course is 9‐18 sessions, two times per week for 3-6 weeks. We do only 2 treatments a week to allow the blood fatty acid levels to stabilize after each treatment. Further treatments can be undertaken after a 2 week break. This break is also to allow the body to return to its normal mode of action and can help the clinic to ascertain if the patient is actually making the changes to their diet and lifestyle that is required to maintain the results LipoMelt gives them. If the patient returns after the two week period having gained the fat back again, further consultation and advice needs to be given to decide if further treatment would be beneficial.

Q: What is the wave length of the LEDs?
 A: 650nm and 880nm

Q: Is LipoMelt safe?
A: Yes, Laser liposuction is an FDA approved cold laser therapy. Cold laser technology has been safely used for years in other medical treatments, like pain management, treatment of neurological problems, scar tissue treatment and more. The only people who should NOT do this procedure are: pregnant women or those nursing, epileptic patients, patients with malignancy, patients with heart disease or with a heart pacemaker, patients with kidney (gallstone) or liver disease.

Q: What risks or side effects are involved?
A: There are no risks or side effects involved in using LipoMelt. It is considered a safe alternative to invasive procedures such as traditional liposuction. The LipoMelt treatment is 100% non-invasive and does not cause any bruising or scarring.
